Microneedling

A non-surgical treatment that firms, plumps, and improves skin texture. This treatment is also sometimes known by the names skin needling or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT).

About The Treatment

Microneedling is a non-surgical skin care treatment using an electronic device studded with tiny needles that cause controlled micro-injuries to the skin.

In turn the skin reacts to these injuries by releasing growth factors that form collagen and elastin fibres to fill the channels made by the needles.

This has the effect of firming and plumping the skin and improving the skin texture. This treatment is also sometimes known by the names skin needling or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT).

Special serums can be used in conjunction with the treatment to improve the results. Your practitioner will discuss this with you at the time of treatment.

Before any treatment can be suggested, you will require a consultation to ascertain your concerns, medical history and suitability.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the treatment involve?
A small handheld pen-like device with a sterile, disposable tip with tiny needles is used to pierce the skin. The needling pen has adjustable speed and needle depth allowing complete control by the practitioner and allowing differing depths to be used depending on the area being treated.

Does it hurt?
A topical numbing cream will be applied before the procedure. Most patients feel very little pain or discomfort - it has been said to feel like a vibrating cats tongue.

Are there any side effects?
It is normal to have redness and swelling, it may feel like mild sunburn - this usually subsides over 24 hours. There may be some areas of pinpoint bleeding and/or bruising. The skin may feel tight but this will usually last only 1-2 hours.

Is the treatment safe?

Microneedling is considered a safe and effective procedure when performed by a licensed professional in a medical setting. At VB Aesthetics, our practitioners Vicki, Joanna and Lucy are fully trained and qualified, and perform the treatment in our CQC registered clinic.

How long will it take to work?
This will depend on your cell renewal process, as this slows down as we age. Most patients see an immediate “glow” to their skin, and an overall improvement after 2 weeks. The regeneration process will continue over the following months providing a gradual enhancement.

Will I have to change my plans for the day?
The skin may feel tighter and slightly dryer than normal for the first 3 days after treatment. Try to avoid the sun for 7-10 days after. Apply a broad spectrum UVA & UVB sunscreen with SPF of 30+. No vigorous exercise for 48 hours after treatment.

How often will I need treatments?
Some patients only require one session, but we recommend a course of 3-4 treatments spaced about 3 weeks apart for the best results.

How much does it cost?
The cost of one session of Microneedling is £200.
We offer a course of 4 at £570 (Therapist) or £760 (Nurse) and a course of 6 at £750 (Therapist) or £1000 (Nurse).

One session of Microneedling with Skin Booster is £350.
