PDO Threads

A non-surgical solution that smooths away fine lines and wrinkles to give a natural, youthful appearance.

About The Treatment

The PDO Thread lift is often referred to as the ‘lunch hour lift’ or ‘non-surgical face lift’.

PDO thread lifts are very effective on skin that has lost volume and has some sagging or drooping and create a lift to the skin without any surgical incisions.

They are minimally invasive and carried out under a local anaesthetic. Recovery time is quick and requires no hospital stay.

PDO thread lifts are more affordable than surgical face lift treatments and can last between 1 – 2 years.

The threads are made from PDO (polydioxanone), the same material used in surgical stitches. These once inserted cause the body to produce collagen around these threads, creating a meshwork leading to a subtle and effective lift to the skin, giving a rejuvenated and refreshed look.

Suitable for various areas of the face including cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, jawline and neck.

Before any treatment can be suggested, you will require a consultation to ascertain your concerns, medical history and suitable treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the treatment involve?
The procedure involves implanting biodegradable, absorbable and nonallergenic medical "sutures", otherwise known as threads, into the skin.

Does it hurt?
The procedure is minimally invasive. Patients are given a local anaesthetic before treatment to ensure they are comfortable and relaxed throughout.

Are there any side effects?
The side effects are minimal - you might experience some swelling or bruising that lasts for a few days, but there is no downtime and the results are instantaneous.

Is the treatment safe?

No surgical procedure is without risk, but the level of risk is often down to the expertise and experience of the doctor carrying out your procedure. Thread lifts can cause minor side effects such as infection, bruising, swelling, tenderness, numbness and slight asymmetry. At VB Aesthetics, our nurse practitioner Vicki is fully trained and qualified.

What happens after the procedure?
After the procedure we will provide you with aftercare instructions to follow. Most patients experience some mild swelling and bruising, but this should settle quickly. Recovery time is usually less than one week, although strenuous exercise should be avoided for 2 to 3 weeks.

Why do I need a review?
We offer all our patients free follow-up review appointments to assess the effect of treatment and administer any top up treatments if necessary.

How long do results last?
A thread lift’s lasting power depends on the age of the patient  and how much sagging the thread lift has corrected. It should be noted that sagging will return over time, but many patients report that the results last for anything between 2 and 3 years. To extend the results it is possible for additional threads to be inserted.

How much does it cost?
PDO Thread treatments start at £500, the price depends on the areas of the face and neck you wish to be treated. This will be determined at your consultation.
